CuraVac Launches Its Investment Campaign on Spreds
CuraVac is launching an investment campaign on the crowdfunding platform Spreds. The goal of this fundraising round? To finalize canine treatment development. An exciting milestone for the future of veterinary health—and a stepping stone towards human applications.
The countdown has begun: three months to reach (and surpass!) €500,000. Three months to secure the funding needed to finance the final steps of CV-MG01 before market entry. Three months to achieve this initial objective, bringing us one step closer to a durable treatment for myasthenia gravis—first in dogs, and ultimately in other companion animals and humans.
By launching its crowdfunding campaign on Spreds, CuraVac is finalizing the development of its veterinary treatment for myasthenia gravis. In July 2026, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) stated in a Scientific Advice that the efficacy data with dogs is sufficient to proceed to a Marketing Authorization Application. The final step lies in the manufacturing and validation of a commercial veterinary batch of CV-MG01.
With veterinary market entry expected in 2028, the product rollout would provide further proof of concept for the company's Targeted Active Therapy (TAT) platform. Such a milestone would strengthen the platform's notoriety within the scientific community while helping attract future investors interested in supporting Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical development in humans.
With a market of approximately 3,000 to 9,000 dogs treated annually across Europe and the United States, the therapy addresses a market currently estimated at €11.5 million. Revenues generated through product sales and licensing agreements from 2028 onward will then be reinvested directly into funding the clinical development of CV-MG02, an enhanced version of CV-MG01 intended for human use, with the objective of commercialization in 2032. In that context, the initial €500,000 fundraising round could ultimately serve as the catalyst for generating eight-figure revenues over the medium term.
It is worth noting that every euro invested in CuraVac's research and development activities will be matched through a repayable advance granted by the Walloon Region, effectively increasing the available budget to €1,000,000.
Since its creation in 2003, CuraVac has secured more than €18 million in funding, enabling the development of CV-MG01, the successful completion of its Phase 1b clinical trial, and the creation of a more potent formulation for human applications. More recently, two compassionate administrations of CV-MG01 to dogs suffering from severe forms of myasthenia gravis both resulted in remission within only a few weeks. These encouraging outcomes provide strong reasons for optimism as the therapy moves toward large-scale demonstration.
