How to Set Up Your Spreds Account

Spreds is a registered European crowdfunding platform that complies with all the regulatory requirements designed to protect investors. As such, it must comply with the “know your customer” rules like any registered banking or financial institution. This includes your personal details, your bank account number for the investment, your European fiscal citizenship and your investor profile before you can proceed with your investment.

After providing your basic and banking information, you will be asked to check three statements that may apply to you in order to establish if according to the European laws you can be considered as an experienced, a knowledgeable investor, a “sophisticated investor” (this is the legal term) or a mainstream investor or non-sophisticated investor.

If you are a mainstream investor, as per European law you will have to take a 5-minute entry knowledge test. The purpose of this test is to inform and protect investors. Similar to the assessment you might encounter when dealing with a bank, this test consists of 20 questions on experience, knowledge, investment objectives, financial situation, and general understanding of investment risks.

Finally, in accordance with European regulations, Spreds provides a simulation tool that calculates your recommended investment ceiling, based on your ability to bear loss of 10% of your net worth. You can also enter your investment ceiling yourself by submitting it directly in the designated field.

We appreciate that the account creation process may feel lengthy and complex, particularly for a smaller investment, but unfortunately, these steps are required under EU regulations.
